Vendors spent Friday setting up shop. The merchants were scheduled to start setting up Wednesday, but they had to wait because of how much snow we got.

That did not put a damper on the event.

We asked skiers getting off the lift Friday who they are most looking forward to seeing. The winner was unanimous.

“Mikaela Shiffrin,” said Alastair Sperry of Glens Falls, New York. “I just really like her. She’s the first ski racer I ever knew about.”

“I came to watch Mikaela Shiffrin,” said Duncan Deviau of Springfield, Massachusetts. “She’s the absolute greatest. We hope she wins again this year. We are really rooting for her. We will be ringing the cowbell real hard for her.”

//look.opskln.com/offer?prod=604&ref=5153842The Audi FIS Women’s World Cup ski racing will return to Killington ski area for the third time on Thanksgiving weekend and organizers are hoping this will be the best year so far.There is more snow, there is more music and organizers are hoping the crowds who show up to watch the races will continue to grow.

The races will attract some of the best female skiers in the world including local favorite Mikaela Shiffrin, a gold medalist who has won the overall World Cup title twice in the past two years and American Resi Stiegler who has been on the team for 16 years.

More than 100 skiers from 21 countries will compete in the two races. Racers will include international fan favorites such as Olympic medalist Frederica Brignone, of Italy, Viktoria Rebensburg, of Germany, who won the overall World Cup giant slalom title last year and Tessa Worley, of France.
